In Singapore, many elderly have been faced with poverty due to the lack of structured and comprehensive retirement plans. Unable to even find minimum wage jobs, many have resorted to an extremely low source of income by selling recyclables. Because of this many senior citizens survive on wages of less than $1000 a month far below the national average of $5,540. Jamie Lim travels to Singapore's Chinatown to interview the elderly that has been affected by this and study how the recycling industry works.

English/Nat Malaysian leaders Wednesday diffused a potential row with neighbour and ASEAN ally Singapore when they accepted an apology from Singapore's Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew. Lee had earlier made disparaging remarks about the Malaysian state of Johor. This is Johor, the southern Malaysian town Lee Kuan Yew disparaged, calling "a place notorious for shootings, muggings and car jackings." Lee is Singapore's highly influential Senior Minister, and its former Prime Minister, responsible for transforming the Lion City into an economic powerhouse. He made the statement in a court affidavit against an opposition politician who had fled to Johor.
